Recent Projects

Source Power Services of CA has recently been involved in utility resilience work with PG&E in Northern California following the devastating wildfires.  We are qualified to work with all utility providers to join in protecting and strengthening utility infrastructure.  Below are a few of our recent projects.

Recent Projects

Utility resilience, infrastructure upgrades, emergency response and restoration...

System Integrity Inspections

PG&E 2020 -  Present

In order to ensure safe operation and reliable, high-quality electrical service within PG&E’s territory, Source Power helped fulfill PG&E’s need to inspect its overhead electric facilities. Source Power inspected various areas of PG&E's Northern California Transmission and Distribution systems. Source Power identified facilities in need of repair or upgrade,  helping the Client maintain a safe, compliant, and reliable system.

Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

PG&E 2018 - 2019

PG&E's expansion of electric vehicle infrastructure throughout its territory led to  the Source Power new build award of medium to heavy duty EV charging station projects.  Our scope included engineering design, procurement and construction.  Source Power's participation in the program assisted PG&E and the state of California to achieve transportation and greenhouse gas reduction goals as established in Senate Bill 350.

Emergency Wildfire Restoration

PG&E 2018 - Present

Since 2018 Source Power has provided crews to respond to the wildfires that often breakout during California’s dry seasons, including the state’s most destructive fires like the Carr Fire, the Camp Fire, and the Glass Fire. The devastation left in the wake of these wildfires often require line crews like Source Power’s to assist in the restoration efforts - rebuilding the electrical distribution lines and restoring power to the Client’s customers.

Wildfire Hardening

PG&E 2018 - Present

To reduce the risk of future wildfire ignitions and harden their electrical distribution system against the effects of wildfire, PG&E implemented the Wildfire Hardening Program throughout their territory. Under this program, Source Power has successfully completed several projects installing stronger tree-wire, engaging in pole replacements and the under grounding of some overhead lines to mitigate fire risk, creating a stronger and more reliable electrical system.

Emergency Storm Work

PG&E 2018 - Present

Source Power has provided restoration efforts caused by different types of weather phenomena. In California where many climate variations exist, wind, rain, and snowstorms have caused damage to power lines. Our crews remain on call and have responded to restoration services for multiple emergencies.  Source Power’s crews are well-equipped to provide inspection to asset damages and safely provide restoration of power to affected communities.

Pole and Equipment Replacement

PG&E 2017 - Present

Since 2017 Source Power has partnered with PG&E on numerous projects and programs where the need to replace existing poles and equipment were necessary to maintain the compliance and integrity of the PG&E’s system. Upgrading the system focused on incorporating current operating conditions, increased technology, and improved safety standards. The programs included New Business, EC Tags, Trip Saver Replacement, and Routine Emergency Work.

Monte Vista EPC 230kV MPAC

PG&E - 2017 - Present

Source Power provides substation engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) support to PG&E as pictured here at the Monte Vista 230kV substation  during a Modular Protection Automation & Control (MPAC) building installation.

Monte Vista EPC 230kV Brownfield Substation Upgrades

PG&E - 2017 - Present

Source Power has provided EPC services to PG&E on 60kV, 115kV, and 230kV substations.  We work with engineering partners to optimize design, provide value driven procurement of electrical equipment and supplies and utilize safe electrical construction options for our customers.
